   In the heart of the Winding Gulf coalfield, Itmann was a company town, founded with the sole purpose of extracting coal. And for eighty years, the place hummed, full of noise, smoke and hard work.
    The last time I went through, in the late 90s, all that was gone- the place was mostly deserted, another Appalachian ghost town, of which there are too many.
